Mahdia is a Tunisian coastal town located at about 200 km south of the capital Tunis.
Today, the economy of Mahdia is mainly based on tourism, fishing and olive oil.

First fishing port in Tunisia, it is busy at certain times, and has its own blue fish canneries conditioning. You can admire the trawlers equipped for fishing lampara (night).

The town is  the home of many olive oil mills which produce olive oil as well as soap.
Mahdia is also famous for its weaving industry (silk and wool) and crafts (jewelry, leather, wood, etc.)..

Its white sandy beaches,its history make of Mahdia a popular seaside resort.

The touristic area is located north of the city, specifically in front of the district Hiboun.Most hotels are located by the seaside and offers variety.
